New programmes from Man Alive

ManAlive is constantly seeking new ways to offer gender appropriate support to men and youth in our community. We have recently launched the following programmes:

Men's Change and Support Group
Men often find themselves in situations where they are expected to deal with big change in their lives and with little support. This group is an open, easy-going group of ordinary guys who have had crisis and change in the past, helping men who are going through hard times now.
Respect
'Have respect for yourself and you will get respect for yourself. Have respect for others and you will get respect from others'.
The Respect programme takes that energy of young men and youth and channels it into physical activity by training how to respond to aggression and bullying by disarming and making an opponents energy harmless.
Group Support for Sexually Abused Men
Sexual abuse is a significant problem in New Zealand, and it is estimated that 1 in 7 men are living with the devastating effects of sexual and physical violation. The Support group provides a programme for individuals wishing to further explore and heal. It provides a safe environment for men to speak of their experiences.
Family and Couple Counselling
Family counselling aims to achieve personal and family well-being and to recognize and strengthen the existing supports and resources you have as individuals and as a family. Couple counselling can help you restore connection, belonging and intimacy in your relationships.

A message from Chris Davidson

Man Alive is entering a new era. We are renewing the energy of the agency through collaborating and networking with the wider community, developing our understanding of the needs of men, youth and families within it, and delivering appropriate services to our community.

As the new Chief Executive, I am looking forward to being a part of this new phase in Man Alive's history.
